Cruising in Company is a great way to spend time on your boat, to meet fellow members of SYC, to experience different anchorages and marina’s within Port Phillip Bay and share knowledge with each other. It is also a gateway to cruising further afield into Bass Strait and beyond.
Most of our cruises are inside the Bay and are accessible for just about anyone with a seaworthy boat whether it is a trailerable boat, a keelboat or a power boat. As long as you are able to stay overnight on your boat you can join in. Our destinations cover Port Phillip Bay, with Queenscliff, Geelong, Martha Cove, Sorrento, Wyndham Harbour and Docklands to name a few. There’s nothing better than having dolphin’s checkout your boat or seals waving languidly as you Cruise in Company to your destination.
Cruises are a great way to both practice your skills and to learn a few new ones. Learn about tides, entering different marinas, tying up to different wharfs and anchoring safely. Most cruises are for 1 or 2 nights. The Melbourne Cup weekend is normally a 3 night cruise and our Labour Day weekend cruise provides an option of a 2 night “in the bay’ cruise or a 10 day Cruising in Company opportunity to experience the Bass Strait and to explore and to take in the spectacular views of the Victorian coastline as seen from their boat.
