Celebration of Life

We wanted to take the chance to say a HUGE thank you for our wedding!! We just cannot thank you, and the team at Sandringham for being so accommodating. You really made the planning and the lead up so easy and so simple. Your communication was incredible, and your organisation skills out of this world. We also cannot explain how MANY comments we got from our guests about how amazing and friendly the staff were on the night and how great the food was. To hear that come from our family and friends just confirmed our decision to get married at SYC was a bloody good one!

Hosted in the stunning Port Phillip Room overlooking the bay, Sandringham Yacht Club has outstanding facilities for hosting Celebration of Life events and funeral services. These include;

  • Use of the stunning Port Phillip Room overlooking the Bay
  • For catering purposes we offer a Celebration of Life package comprising;
    • Gourmet pies and savoury pastries
    • Sandwiches with our Chef’s selection of fillings
    • Selection of delicious sweet items
    • Coffee, a selection of teas, juices and soft drinks
    • Complimentary use of our lectern + microphone, data projector + screen and in-house speakers
    • This package is offered at $50 per person and to assist with arrangements, a $950 service charge also applies. This includes all front and back of house staffing, the venue and use of our audio visual equipment including lectern + microphone, data projector + screen and in-house speakers. A dedicated professional AV operator will be provided to you to assist with your audio visual needs.
  • There are a range of additional options
    • Alcoholic beverages can be served on a consumption basis with a limit applied if desired. Alternatively a cash bar service can be provided where guests can purchase their own beverages.          
    • Catering
      • Fresh fruit platter $90 per platter [serves 10]
      • Cheese platter $100 per platter [serves 10]
      • Antipasto platter $140 per platter [serves 10]
    • The package is based on a three hour duration however there is an option to extend to a four hour duration at a fee of $200.
    • If you wish to conduct your funeral service onsite you are most welcome. Coffins are accommodated but access needs to be considered.   
    • The Port Phillip Room is appropriate for a minimum of 80 guests.

For Sandringham Yacht Club members we extend a discounted price off the above food and beverage charges as well as providing the following additional services;

  • We lower the Australian Flag to half-mast on the day. We also do this on the day we are notified of the member’s passing.  
  • With the families blessing we communicate with fellow Members. We do this by placing an internal death notice in the Clubhouse lobby. We also include any necessary details on our website, on our facebook and in our weekly e-news (every Friday).  
  • The Club also has access to Chaplain services – please discuss these with us.
  • The Club can also assist with the spreading of Ashes on Port Phillip by providing access to a club boat and driver
  • We will also announce the passing of the member retrospectively at the next general meeting.
  • Members do not have to pay the time extension fee.
  • We provide the above services for members, their immediate and extended family members.
