Waterfront Assistant – weekend role
Sandringham Yacht Club, located on Port Phillip Bay in the heart of Bayside, is seeking a waterfront assistant, who will work predominantly on weekends, to help facilitate the daily operations of the marina and general waterfront areas at the Club.
This position will suit a boat savvy, self-motivated and confident individual who takes pride in customer service.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Marina Manager and will be responsible for the smooth arrival and departure of marina visitors as well as addressing waterfront and other Club related issues as they arise over the weekend.
Key responsibilities:
- conducting marina occupant checks
- greeting new arrivals
- conducting operational checks including meter readings, fenders, service pedestals, water services, fire hose reels and line checks
- conducting scheduled Club wide tours and explaining facilities e.g. key access, hospitality trading, club events etc.
- assisting with regattas/events as they interface with the marina and boat yard
- helping keep the marina tidy, responding to and reporting any maintenance issues and assisting with operational/equipment faults
- providing general help in needed areas as required on weekends including KKC, Boating, the Bar & Bistro, responding to incidents and medical emergencies etc.
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
- basic boat knowledge
- a demonstrable aptitude for customer service
- a self-start mentality
- a degree of physical fitness (i.e. be able to walk a significant distance each day and some lifting/physical maintenance activities etc)
This is predominantly an outside role and involves regular weekend work on both Saturdays & Sundays plus some weekdays from time to time.
