Like most clubs, SYC has a youth member retention problem.
Many of our competing boats need crew. More boats would compete if they had better access to crew. We need an exciting program that engages our youth and one that enables them to advance on the State, National and World stage. Our vision is to introduce the J70 Sailing program in a bid to address these issues. This program requires an appropriate keelboat and we have selected the J70. SYC put a motion to the 16 May 2023 general meeting to purchase the J70s and it was overwhelmingly supported by the members. We now have four Club J70s at SYC and hope to acquire an additional two with further fundraising.
