Tackers

Kids learn to sail

Tackers is a fun introductory, games-based kids learn to sail program designed for ages 7 to 12 years. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate. All the equipment, including the boats, is provided. Tackers is delivered in small groups of boats specifically designed for the program and supervised by Australian Sailing qualified Instructors and Assistant Instructors who are on the water all the time the kids are sailing.

Programs are either delivered as a 4 or 5 day holiday program or as series of sessions over several weeks either after-school or on Saturdays. Kids receive a certificate of achievement at the completion of each program.

There are three levels that kids can progress through (Tackers 1 is the first level), each level involves around 15 hours of participation. Each course is focused on having fun, playing games while learning the basics of sailing.

Tackers 1

In Tackers 1 – Having Fun sailing kids sail in pairs in small boats. It’s a great way to meet new friends and kids have the chance to sail with different kids in their group.

TACKERS 2

The next level is Tackers 2 – Tricks & Techniques.  If kids are confident, they can sail a boat on their own with lots of support, supervision and encouragement from the Instructor and Assistant Instructors.

TACKERS 3

The final level of the Tackers program is Tackers 3 – Sailing Fast!  This is a chance for the kids to sail boats on their own, learning how to make the boat go faster and playing more games all whilst still under the guidance and support of the Instructor and Assistant Instructors.

Tackers Squad
