About this Cruise:
Does the thought of sailing at night make you nervous? Feedback that we have received is that some boat owners have limited experience operating their vessels at night and navigating in the dark. Please join us on our first cruise of the year. All boaters are welcome.
If that somewhat describes you then join us for an informative, fun and helpful evening Cruising in Comfort with others and experience the fun of sailing at night and seeing the lights of Melbourne from the water.
And if you are an experienced night sailor – please join us anyway, either to hone your skills, or to help out by sharing some of your night time sailing experience with our newer sailors.
The aim of these cruises is to have fun while safely operating our vessels in the dark and improving our night time navigation skills.
We are planning two options for this short, but fun Cruising in Company event.
Evening Cruise Option: A short cruise of between 1 to 2 hours navigating around several local marked buoys in the Northern end of the Bay is planned. Meet at KKC at 7:00 pm for a short information session before departing SYC at 7:30 pm. We will be returning to SYC by 9:30 pm and plan to meet up for a debrief and some social time. Maybe plan to continue the fun and stay on your boat in the marina too.
Night Passage Option: Meet at KKC at 7:00 pm for a short information session ahead of our planned 7:30 pm departure. This cruise is planned for approximately 4 to 5 hours duration to an overnight anchorage location which will be determined on the day, dependent on wind and wave direction. After a restful night of sleeping at anchor plan to have breakfast on the hook before returning to SYC mid-day. Note, depending on the final anchorage location selected brekkie could be had on shore with a short dinghy ride.
