Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) believe that a well-trained work force can take an active role in preventing occupational injuries and illnesses and thereby promoting a safe and healthy workplace environment. It is the policy of SYC that all employees and members are trained in Occupational Health and Safety by way of an induction process and will undertake specific training in specified areas of operations.
Sandringham Yacht Club operates within a highly regulated environment and special conditions apply to contractors, members, non-members, visitors and staff which may not apply at other sites.
Before being permitted to provide services or carry out any works or any maintenance activities to boats in the yard or marina, all Contractors, Members, Non-Members, Visitors and Staff must undergo a Boat Yard Induction, which is based around SYC site rules, to be carried out by the Marina and Yard Manager or his delegate. The Induction is a mandatory requirement with the objective to protect contractors, employees, members and visitors, members of the public, and the assets of SYC from potential hazards.
How do you get inducted?
Make an appointment in advance to guarantee one of our waterfront team members are available to complete your induction with you before you can commence works. A limited number of walk-in appointments are also available. Sessions are available Monday – Saturday. Before you come in for your appointment, make sure you arrange any documents you may need [ie insurance] to bring with you to avoid delays to getting on site. When you arrive at SYC, head down to the Boating & Marina Office.
