Although the fleet came together as the race progressed it was the early starters that held the mid fleet and late starters at bay. Of the 12 early finishers 9 yachts were early starters, two from mid fleet and 1 late starter. The Triton 24 DOLPHIN PLAY (John Brennan) led the race from beginning to end for her 2nd win of the series. Finishing 5 minutes 24 seconds behind the winner was the other Triton 24 in the race, WILLARIE (Graeme Kaufman), who kept her 2nd place from start to finish. Finishing in 3rd place only 10 seconds behind WILLARIE was FIREFOX (Kim Beveridge & Howard Davies) recording her first podium finish of the series. MELTEMI SYC (Ian Howarth) became the 9th winner of Start of the Day when she crossed the start line 2 seconds late for her 30 minute handicap. It probably comes as no surprise to learn that NUTCRACKER II (Rob Davis & Andy Baker) sailed the course in the fastest time. She started last and finished 29th but sailed the course 10 minutes 29 seconds faster than any other yacht. Read more…
