Following a gale warning for Port Philip race 19 was abandoned. Observations at Fawkner Beacon showed the average wind speed for the afternoon was almost 26 knots from the WSW. Gusts reached 36 knots in the late afternoon. Other observation sites around Port Philip including South Channel, Point Wilson, and St Kilda made similar observations. Read more…
