Wednesday Wonders Race 8 Winter Series 2017 – The Greyhounds Fail to Catch the Rabbit

It was difficult to catch the early starters in a race that encountered the strongest breeze of the series so far. Of the first ten yachts to finish the race, seven were early starters; three came from mid fleet but none were late starters.

It was DOLPHIN PLAY (John Brennan) that bounded across the start line 20 minutes and 46 seconds ahead of the rest of the fleet. She led the fleet at each of the marks to cross the finish line 9 minutes 15 seconds ahead of her closest rival. This was the first WW win for DOLPHIN PLAY. In second place was VANTAGE (Darren Hunter) who finished 14 places ahead of where she started. This was an outstanding achievement in a race where yachts changed an average of 6 places between start and finish.

After an absence of 2 races PIPPA (Jeffrey Woolhouse) returned to collect her fist podium finish of the series when she crossed the line in 3rd place. PIPPA had a great start winning Start of the Day when she crossed the line right on her handicap. Read more…
