Wednesday Wonders 2017/18 Race 18 – “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

The southerly change came through close to the start of the race but failed to make the forecast 10-15 knots. According to the Wailing Wall Handicaps were based on 10 to 15 knots. It seemed that SYC had more wind and better conditions than was experienced at Brighton based on the reports from yachts withdrawing from racing due to lack of wind and unpleasant hot temperatures. At the start of the race the wind did drop out for the first 5 mins. It was a long course for the conditions and maybe a shortened course would have been appreciated.
