SYC Update 27 July

Tuesday, 27th July 2021

CORRESPONDENCE TO SYC Members on Tuesday 27 July 2021

Dear Members,

Some better news today – from tomorrow keelboat racing is back on, our Clubhouse is set to re-open 7 days per week, you may undertake your own works in the boat yard and reception re-opens daily from 10:00am-6:00pm. We are delighted and can’t wait to see you back. The 5km radius and 2 hour time limit restrictions no longer apply so please come down and enjoy your Club. The only thing we need right now is some better weather, but it is July in Melbourne. Here is the latest;

  • Organised Racing & Academy Courses – The easing of restrictions now permits all racing and training to return. So from tomorrow onwards, our Wednesday Wonders is back (we will be in touch in the morning re the forecast). Looking ahead to the weekend, we have no scheduled keelboat racing but our OTB sailors have racing on this Sunday from 1.00pm. Check in with your calendars for the winter racing schedule.
  • Clubhouse – the main clubhouse re-opens 7 days per week with lunch from 11.30am and dinner 5.30pm. There are some rules and venue caps so please book to avoid disappointment 9599 0999.
  • Recreational Boating – activities including boating and fishing are allowed without geographical or time restrictions.
  • Boat Yard – the boat yard and travel lift operations are open and both private owners and contractors may carry out works.
  • Ken King Centre – The Ken King Centre will remain open daily from 10am – 4pm offering takeaway coffees, takeaway beverages and takeaway food. A fresh batch of daily take away meals will continue for now.

If coming down, naturally all of the normal COVID-19 requirements apply whilst onsite – social distancing, wearing a face covering, practising good hygiene and scanning the QR Code.

We look forward to seeing you back at your Club.

Warm Regards & Stay Safe,

Richard Hewett
