Dear OTB sailors and friends,
Our Winter Series got underway last Sunday in conditions you might expect in July rather than now.
Thankfully the water isn’t too cold yet and the strong winds abated before racing to allow those who came to enjoy two great races.
The race officer of the day (Terry George) did a great job, but was later asked if he umpired the Collingwood V Essendon game on Anzac day after a few boats got penalised for starting early.
Hopefully the wind direction allows our young sailors to find a transit on the start line this week and everybody can get away cleanly.
Quite a few boats missed the action last week, some had a good excuse, like the Laser sailors who attended the coaching clinic at Indented Head and the cadet sailors that trained with the Australian Team in Geelong for four days. As for the other boats, well hopefully we see a few more of the 29ers, Tasar and Optimist sailors on the water this Sunday afternoon. Don’t forget racing starts at 1pm.
Autumn JDS has been cancelled as many of our young sailors are off playing Winter Sports on Sunday mornings and the rest prefer one on water session per day this time of year.
We are glad that you choose our club racing over JDS and those who enrolled in JDS and sailed last weekend will receive a full refund.
Finally, please don’t forget to book your tickets for OTB Presentation night in two weeks!
