SYC and the Royal Cork Yacht Club have recently agreed to reciprocal rights, adding to SYC’s existing broad range of reciprocal clubs across the globe.
The Royal Cork Yacht Club is based in Crosshaven, Cork, Ireland and is the world’s oldest yacht club founded in 1720. It is the organiser of the biennial Cork Week, widely regarded as one of Europe’s premier sailing events. The club encompasses a wide variety of sailing activities and its members compete at the highest level in all branches of sailing, with a number of World, Olympic, Continental and national sailors among its membership. It is has hosted many National, European & World Championships.
The reciprocal arrangements were initiated by Vice Commodore Mark Welsh during the recent ICOYC World Forum in Vancouver, Canada, and allows SYC’s members to benefit from the same access rights and facilities as local members. SYC members planning to visit Royal Cork Yacht Club can obtain a Letter of Introduction from SYC reception.
