Dear Members,
After more than 6 years of excellent service to the Club, Rick Barrett our Members Bar & Restaurant Manager has decided the time is right for him to move on and he will be leaving us. We are sorry to see Rick go, there is no doubt he will be sorely missed.
Rick originally joined us back in late 2012 in the Harbour View Restaurant, then over time he was promoted to his current role of Members Bar & Restaurant Manager. Very popular amongst the Members, Rick has been a key figure in a highly prosperous period in the Clubs Food & Beverage operations. We are very appreciative of Rick’s 6+ years of service and we wish him all the very best.
Rick will be finishing up on Sunday 4 August but in good form will come back and run the 10th Birthday “Gin Event” on the 17th August. If you would like to farewell Rick, please join him for a casual drink from 3pm on 4 August in the bar. Thanks again Rick for everything.

With one of the biggest summers on record coming our way, comprising record membership numbers, a full boating calendar, 3 World Championships, Sail Sandy, Sail Melbourne… all indicators are it’s going to be another bumper season upstairs in the Members Bar and HVR. With that in mind, we need a high calibre replacement for Rick and I am delighted to announce the appointment of Sladjan Vujicic to the position of Members Bar & Restaurant Manager.
Sladjan (pronounced Sludgen) is an outstanding hospitality operator with a proven track record in a range of hospitality businesses. His exemplary customer and member service skills are industry leading and his skillset well-rounded – he specialises in everything from smart casual eateries, to fine dining to private events. His track record is excellent and his reputation impeccable. Sladjan is delighted to be joining SYC and commented “I have a strong understanding on how to make food and beverage outlets run smoothly and make members and guests feel welcome. I will bring to SYC a high level of professionalism, some good humour, a determination to succeed and I hope to provide Members with a wonderful service experience”.
Sladjan may be familiar to some of you as he has previously done some work for us in the events department. His lovely wife, Nina, is also the Restaurant supervisor – and for those of you familiar with Nina’s work ethic and customer service skillset….well Sladjan has the same ethos. He joins us in mid-August so please give him a warm Sandringham welcome when you meet him.
In more good news, we have been very busy doing deals with our beer and wine suppliers with lots of exciting announcements coming the Members way in the next few weeks. If you are one of the 500 Members booked into Saturday nights 10th birthday bash, I look forward to seeing you at the Club then.
