SYC OTB sailors Heather Macfarlane and Chris Payne left their Tasar in Melbourne over Easter and jumped back into their Fireball to win the Fireball Victorian State Championships at Lake Bullen Merri. 15 boats (13 from Victoria) contested the event in the crater of the extinct volcano with the majority of the racing sailed in great conditions with winds primarily from the S – SW of 10 to 20 knots.
The event was sailed over 7 races with Heather and Chris winning by one point over the two South Australians entrants – Tom Gordon & Jack Fletcher and Jalina Thompson-Kamba & Peter James.
The weekend wasn’t just about the racing, with most competitors camping at the lake and enjoying each other’s company.
