In wild and windy weather our SYC JDS Optimist kids came out on top at the 2016 Black Rock Yacht Club Icicle Cup.
During May each Saturday afternoon a group of SYC Opti sailors have represented our club at the Icicle Cup.
Thomas Bartl (AUS386 Sea Dragon) placed 1st in the Open Fleet sailing a great series and excelling in the tough windy conditions over the past month. What a fantastic result Thomas! You had the biggest smile on your face at presentation.
Thomas Johnston (AUS1430 Gust) placed 1st in Intermediate Fleet. Thomas had had a fantastic season and continues to develop into a very good little sailor.
Scarlett Zerbe (AUS1060 Dash) placed 3rd in the Intermediate Fleet. This trophy will sit proudly next to her trophy for 1st place in Green fleet at the States.
Scarlett Zerbe & Thomas Johnston have been selected by VIODA the State class association to represent Australia at the 2016 China Sailor Exchange in August. What a great lead up to their first overseas regatta experience.
