Congratulations to Chris Furey who received the prestigious title of Club Person of the Year for 2023, presented by Commodore Sue Bowes during Opening Day ceremonies.
For many years Chris played a crucial role in capturing the essence of our Club through his camera lens, together with the articles he has contributed to this magazine. Marking milestone events such as our Opening Days, regattas big and small, presentation ceremonies, changes to our infrastructure and the wonderful vibe of SYC and its members. He is our honorary on-water photographer.
Beyond this, Chris has also contributed for many years to the running of Off the Beach and race management during Club, State, National and World regattas. Chris is often behind the scenes volunteering his expertise to ensure these events showcase SYC as a wonderful yacht club.
This award recognises and celebrates his invaluable contribution to SYC both on and off the water.
