On Wednesday 5 July we had 24 past Tackers, OutThere along with current Opti and Laser sailors enjoy a Come n Try afternoon session featuring the International Cadet Class.
With 3 SYC club boats and 4 privately owned cadets hitting the water to provide an experience in a boat none of the participants had sailed before, with many never sailing a two person dinghy. Emma Suda and Carla Maertens were generous enough to give what little spare time they currently have, allowing the opportunity for participants to sail with 2 of the 4 boats from SYC heading to Belgium for the Cadet Worlds in the coming days.
SYC instructors and past cadet sailors Mischa Suda and Mats Maertens were on the Ribs offering their knowledge and assisting with the sharp changeovers of crew. Dave Suda took eager parents out on Endeavour IV finishing with OTB Club Captain Nick Duell cooking up a sausage sizzle, snags went down that fast we didn’t have time to take a photo…
A massive thankyou to everyone who made the day a success. Our aim is to offer another Come n Try next school holidays and build on the success from Wednesday. This will include all OTB youth classes and potentially a sail on our new J70 fleet. If you are interested in attending more days like this, contact the boating office.
