Cock of the Bay 2016

Wednesday, 28th December 2016

Another year, another Cock of the Bay completed and once again some excellent results from our SYC members! The day started off with a warm northerly, just enough to tease all those taking part in the race with the potential of a downwind, spinnaker race…but it wasn’t meant to be! Come time to push off, the breeze had swung to the South reaching 15-20 knots by start time making it another year with the breeze ‘on the nose’ the whole way down from Station Pier to Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron.

The start got away on time and after a few individual recalls, the entire fleet was away. The wind seemed to mostly range from the 15-25 knot mark the whole way down south until around 4pm where the wind started to rapidly ease as predicted which eventually saw a number of boats retiring after they found themselves becalmed in no wind.
