Saturday 5 December, a small group of SYC members headed across to take a look at Wyndham Harbour over near Werribee River. We hadn’t checked with anyone over there but thought things must be getting close to completion and in any case we had a steady southerly and it was a great day for a sail.
When we got there things looked pretty close to completion and looking over the wall we could see an empty marina complete with brand new floating jetties. We slowly entered the channel – only to be met a guy on a work boat who told us that things weren’t quite ready yet for boats to enter and that it’d be risky to come any further. He assured us that it’d be ready by Christmas.
So there was nothing for it but to head back and in the steady 18-20 knot southerly – we flew home.
