Exceptional and Inspirational, are words that are often mentioned when discussing the 2017 Rotary Club of Brighton – Bayside Art Show,
Whilst not the biggest of all the art shows the Bayside Art Show is mostly referred to as the best and this year certainly proves that point, with the number of paintings sold surpassing all expectations and even eclipsing the previous two years record art sales.
Held from August 17th to August 20th at the magnificent Sandringham Yacht Club Venue, there were close to 600 works on display by many amazingly talented and skilled artists from both local and interstate. Add this to the high standard of paintings submitted, plus such beautiful surroundings with a backdrop of Port Phillip Bay and the stage was already set for such a successful outcome.
The gala opening night put on by major sponsor Mercedes-Benz Brighton started the ball rolling, with invited guests taking advantage of being first to view the exhibits by purchasing over 30 paintings within three hours of the doors being open.
With such an incredible range of great works being displayed, the feast continued over the next four days of the art show with the result being almost twice that of the previous 2016 record year. The overall result in terms of paintings sold against the total displayed is 20% which is arguably the highest yield of any other art show in the country.
Visitors through the door were also up by approximately 20% despite many people having to brave some of our less favourable weather.
The Bayside Art Show by Mercedes-Benz Brighton has been totally run and managed by The Rotary Club of Brighton in conjunction with the Brighton Recreation Centre since it commenced back in 1970. Hundreds of volunteer man hours by Rotary Club Members enables the Art Show to be held every year, with 100% of all proceeds being ploughed back into the local community and in support of those charities most in need.
