The Commodore, Flag Officers, members and staff of Sandringham Yacht Club mourn the passing of Mel Mollison. Mel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday 12 January 2021.
An SYC Member since 2003, Mel was the husband of Caroline, father of Andrew, Justin and Patrick, and like a father to Anna and Lacey. Grandfather to Lachlan, Sebastian, Jadie, Jack, Charlie and Maverick. Brother of Ken (Dec), Philip and Rosemary.
There are so many great memories to speak of including 5 Bathurst motor races as a driver for Mazda, he competed in the Hattah and Sea Lake desert motorbike races, sailed in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race with two of his sons and he was a National and State champion in various yachts.
Mel was devoted to his family and lived life to the fullest. He was a ripper bloke and will be sorely missed.
There will be a private cremation with a memorial celebration at a later date when two of his sons can return from overseas.
