Twenty eight yachts, the largest fleet of the series, contested race eight. The race was around the 6 leg, 9.9 nautical mile course 14 with 2 opportunities for 6 yachts to fly spinnakers. Conditions were dull and overcast but made for pleasant sailing in a breeze that was variable and averaged about 8 knots for the morning.
