Dean Robson Club Person of the Year and Jeff Woolhouse gets Stirrers Award

Monday, 7th September 2015

Two awards that are traditionally announced at the annual Ball are the Club Person of the Year and the Stirrer of the Year.

Cheers went around the room when it was announced Dean Robson was the Club Person of the year.

The list of Dean’s involvement in the Club is long and includes:

  • A long term commitment to OTB race management and is a National Race Officer
  • A huge supporter of the Metung Regatta
  • Involvement in Sail Sandy over many years and now heads the Sail Sandy Committee
  • On the OTB Committee for many years
  • A past OTB Captain
  • Has served on General Committee

Added to the list is the invaluable technical support Dean has continuously given the Club with our computer systems.

An extremely well deserved award Dean – congratulations.

The Stirrers Award is presented to a member who cares about the wellbeing of our Club. The Stirrer is never a whinger nor negative, but is a person who is vocal about wanting the best for Sandy.

Jeff Woolhouse well and truly fits the bill.

Jeff writes a weekly article about the Wednesday Wonders race as part of the Windward Buoy (aka Graeme Furness) and Mark Windward team.

The commentary is widely read and answers to Jeff’s weekly quiz come from as far away as Ireland. Jeff has a quirky sense of humour which allows him to question some rulings in the series and suggest improvements without offending.

His gentle, tongue in cheek style, is an amusing read and is part of the fabric of the Wednesday Wonders Series.

Thankyou Jeff for being such a huge part of the success of Wednesday Wonders.
