Not only did YOUNG BEARS (Graeme Mathews) win her first Sunday race but she won with a new all female crew. She won what was the longest race in both distance and time of the series. The 23 yacht fleet tackled the 10.8 nautical mile course 41 in a breeze that varied in both strength and direction accompanied by sloppy seas. Observations at Fawkner Beacon indicated the breeze shifted from the south west to the south south east and averaged about 11 knots for the morning.
