WW Summer Series 2021 Race 20 – Series Finale

The 34 yacht fleet that assembled for the last race of the series couldn’t hope for much more than the 10 to 15 knot northerly, flat seas and the partly cloudy skies forecast. There was a slim possibility that WHITE POINTER (Tom Raft), who had sat at the top of the aggregate for 9 of the last 10 weeks, could be dislodged. After sailing the 9.4 nautical mile course 25 it almost happened. In the final moments of the race PIPPA (Jeffrey Woolhouse), one of the smallest yachts in the fleet, was overtaken by SECOND NATURE (Paul Mentiplay) who crossed the finish line in 5th place 1 second ahead of PIPPA in 6th place. A 5th place for PIPPA would have won her the aggregate. As it was PIPPA finished 6th putting her equal on 40 points with WHITE POINTER at the top of the aggregate.
