It was a relief to see the overnight and morning rain ended before the start of the first race of the WW 2021-22 series. Although the rain disappeared and the sun made an occasional appearance the water did remain choppy with the wind chiefly from the south, averaging about 11 knots for the afternoon. Thirty three of the 51 yachts currently entered in the aggregate series contested the race around the 9.3 nautical mile course 12 which produced some unexpected results.
