Wednesday Wonders Summer Series 2016-17 Race 21 – Sailing Is the Only Thing to do On a Day like This

Clear skies, flat water an eleven-knot southerly are champagne sailing conditions. They attracted 40 yachts to a race around the 9.8 nautical miles 7 leg Course 12. In a southerly breeze around 48% of the course is a beat, 40% a run with the remaining 12% a reach. This course under these conditions suited some yachts with higher handicaps.

Of the first 10 yachts to cross the finish line 3 had a handicap of 50 minutes or more, 3 a handicap of 40 to 50 minutes, 2 a handicap of 30 to 40 minutes and 2 with a handicap of 20 to 30 minutes.

It was NUTCRACKER II with a handicap of 56 minutes who won the race for the third time this series. After winning Start of the Day and with a handicap of 24 minutes SALT WHISTLE finished in 2nd place. In 3rd place was CARPE DIEM (Paul Commins) who was off a handicap of 48 minutes.
