SYC wins 2019 Association Cup!

Friday, 12th April 2019

The 2019 Association Cup was held on Sunday 7 April at Sandringham Yacht Club. Conditions were interesting with extremely testing conditions keeping not only the sailors on their toes but also SYC’s race management team!

This year’s Association Cup saw only two Club’s competing, those being Sandringham Yacht Club and Royal Brighton Yacht Club. It was a difficult day on the water with the breeze swinging a full 180 degrees throughout the day with a fading breeze.

This saw the first race which got away as per the schedule being abandoned half way through the race with a massive wind shift. The race management team then quickly sprung to action relaying the course at the new heading before getting the only two races in for the day.

SYC’s team consisted of the following two divisions:

IRC

  • Doesn’t Matter
  • Watermark II
  • Wicked

AMS:

  • Horizon Sprint
  • Joust
  • Scarlet Runner

All of our boats sailed exceptionally well with Wicked and Scarlet Runner winning the IRC and AMS divisions respectively. On top of these two boat’s scores, the combined scores of our other AMS and IRC boats say SYC dominating both divisions.

Special thanks to Royal Brighton Yacht Club for coming to play, it was a fantastic day on the water with very trying conditions!

Thanks to our volunteers for a job well done!!!
