SYC UPDATE 18 JUNE 2021

Friday, 18th June 2021

CORRESPONDENCE TO SYC Members via eNews on Friday 18 June

Hi Members

Based on the latest Victorian Government announcements, the following is the latest as it relates to SYC;

Competitive sailing returns from Sat 19 June, Clubhouse capacities have slightly increased and all Members can now visit the Club without geographical or time restrictions. The relevant details are below;

  • Recreational Boating & Competitive Sailing Update
    • All recreational boating and training is now back on for all Members without geographical or time restrictions.
    • Competitive sailing is back on from Sat 19 June at 1:30pm with the Kingston Slalom Trophy race. Then next week we are back as per the calendar with racing on Wednesday 23, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June. For our OTB sailors, we have the first of our winter sailing days scheduled for Sunday 20 June – this will consist of 3-4 short sprint races and will be a standalone series each weekend.
  • Boat Yard & Boat Storage Areas – The Boat Yard, Launch Ramp, Marina, Hardstand and Off the Beach Areas are all fully open to authorised Members.
  • The Clubhouse continues to trade 7 days per week for lunch (from 11:30am) and dinner (from 5:30pm). We are permitted to have 150 people in the venue, 75 inside and 75 outside at one time. So lunch and dinner is back on and it is for seated service, with bookings essential – please call the friendly reception team on 9599 0999. The food offer will initially be the bar menu with daily specials. As restrictions hopefully ease further, the menu will expand and thereafter include things like the tapas menu.
  • Reception is open daily from 10am-6pm.
  • Ken King Centre – will be closed tomorrow (Friday 17 June) and re-open this Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 2pm. Thereafter it will close on weekdays (as the permitted reason to leave home and the 25km radius restrictions have been removed) and will open on weekend race days as per normal.

Please remember it’s mandatory if coming down to SYC that you check in via one of the many QR codes we have on display throughout the club. All of the normal COVID-19 requirements apply whilst onsite – social distancing, wearing a face covering whilst inside or outside if you can’t distance, as well as practising good hygiene.

I look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Warm Regards & Stay Safe,

Richard Hewett
Chief Executive
