SYC UPDATE 1 SEPTEMBER

Wednesday, 1st September 2021

CORRESPONDENCE TO SYC Members on Wednesday 1 September 2021

Dear Members

I hope you and your families are managing to stay safe and well.

Today the Victorian Government extended the current lockdown beyond Thursday 2 September. Most of the current lockdown restrictions as they apply to SYC will remain in place until 70 per cent of Victorians have had at least one dose of vaccine. This is estimated to be around 23 September.

As always, thank you for your incredible support and co-operation. In terms of the lockdown as it relates to SYC, some areas remain open and some closed. This is the current status;

  • Communication – our phones are manned Monday to Saturday from 10am – 4pm 9599 0999
  • Safety Officer – We have a designated safety officer onsite daily from 9am – 4pm to meet our marina, facility and environmental obligations. Their name and phone will be on display at the Ken King Centre.
  • Ken King Centre – Will be open daily from 10am – 4pm offering take away coffees, take away beverages and take away food – meals will be cooked fresh plus frozen meals will be on offer also.
  • Boating – sailing and fishing is permitted for those who reside within 5km and done within the 2 hour limit. Unfortunately we are not permitted to run any organised SYC boating activities.
  • Boat Yard – the boat yard and travel lift operations remain open but works may only be undertaken by registered contractors.
  • Clubhouse – the main clubhouse is closed.
  • Boat Checks – For boat owning Members, and all Members who live within a 5km radius of SYC you can visit / check on your boat whilst you are getting in your daily exercise or buying food and beverage from the Ken King Centre. You can also drive to the club, park and then get in your exercise.  If you are unable to get down to the Club as you live outside of the 5km radius, and would like a staff member to check on your vessel, then please let boating know [email protected] – we will be providing daily checks of all areas of the club including the marina, boat yard, hardstand and off the beach areas. If you reside more than 5km from SYC, and you are a boat owner and you need to do absolutely essential maintenance, or conduct essential checks then we are advised that you are permitted to come to SYC for this purpose. If you would like a supporting letter please contact [email protected]

A friendly reminder if coming down to SYC within curfew hours to check on your boat, purchase take away or get in your exercise, to please remember the well documented rules including QR code sign in, social distancing, wearing a face covering and practising good hygiene. And back to the headlines, please also refrain from congregating in any unlawful form… if a few friendly faces end up in the vicinity, please extend your greetings and keep moving. Once this is all over, SYC will schedule a sea of club events to mingle with fellow Members and friends in your wonderful club.

As further announcements are made, we will be in touch

Warm Regards & Stay Safe,

Richard Hewett
