SYC roadmap, boat yard re-opens and podcast#24 focuses on boat maintenance tips

Wednesday, 7th October 2020

CORRESPONDENCE TO SYC Members via email on Wednesday 7 October

Dear Members

The SYC boat yard has re-opened for our contractors and tenants under certain conditions, Members residing within 5km of SYC can go boating, and this week’s podcast has a range of expert guests providing helpful tips for boat owners in advance of using their boats after lockdown.

  • SYC Roadmap – as things evolve, we update our coronavirus page with the SYC roadmap, current trading hours and facility offerings as well as detailed explanations on any of the Government conditions. And as new announcements are made, like the one late last week permitting boating for Members who reside within 5km of SYC, assuming the messaging is clear, we will post all updates as they relate to SYC on our coronavirus page
  • Boat yard re-opens – the SYC boat yard and marina has re-opened in line with the “Metro Melbourne Second Step” plan. As with all these things there is detail to be across and you can read up on it here. Right now, whilst safety related maintenance works can be undertaken, you must use a professional contractor. All of our contractors and tenants are back on deck and will gladly assist you. When restrictions ease further and you can conduct your own maintenance works, we will be in touch
  • Podcast #24: Boat Maintenance – all boats at SYC have been laying idle and there are some important things to do, check and attend to before heading back out on Port Phillip. The latest edition of our podcast is a well-timed one as it features a number of marine industry professionals (Dean Wheeler – Sandringham Marine, Colin Miller – Offshore Marine Electronics, Nick Purvis – Coastline Marine, Macca – Marine & Industrial Rigging and Surveyor Jeff Casley) talking about the maintenance items you should pay attention to before using your vessel again – you can tune into the podcast here

Hope you have a great week – and if you are a trivia buff, check out this week’s quiz (Knots & Crosses) put together by SYC Member Chris Mitchell – take the quiz here

Warm Regards & Stay Safe,
