SYC Members’ Succeed at the Victorian Sailing Awards!

The Victorian Sailing Awards were held here at Sandringham Yacht Club yesterday evening and it was fantastic to see such a great turn out!

Congratulations to Mark Welsh, recipient of a Services to Yachting Award for his outstanding contribution to sailing. Mark is a member of our Keelboat Sailing Committee and puts in a tremendous amount of work on the keelboat front for both SYC and all other keelboat clubs around the bay. On behalf of SYC, thank you and well done Mark!

Well done also goes to Jack Challands for wining Victorian Junior Sailor of the year! We look forward to watching your progress in the reasonably new Nacra 15 class! Similarly, well done to SYC junior member Laura Harding who along with crew Ella Grimshaw took out the Female Sailors of the Year award. Laura and Ella will be representing Australia in the Youth World Championships at the end of this year in China so they will be one to follow!

Special mention also goes to Krystal Weir for her great work winning the coaching program of the year award!

Congratulations to all of our members who were finalists in their relevant categories but missed out and to all those who received awards for other sailing achievements on the night!
