SYC easing of restrictions update, KKC BBQs 5 days this week and podcast #26

Monday, 19th October 2020

CORRESPONDENCE TO SYC Members via email on Monday 19 October

Dear Members

The Premier eased restrictions yesterday and these are meaningful initial changes for some, but unfortunately not all SYC Members. They will certainly start to bring our Members back to the club and thankfully this will start bringing our Club back to life. Below are the key updates in concise format, you are encouraged to read the full detail on our COVID-19 web page – click here to view;

  • Recreational Boating: If you reside within 25km of the Club, you can now go fishing, go boating and go sailing under certain conditions. Namely, you are to remain within a 25km distance of your home, in good news there is no time limit, you are alone or those on-board with you are part of your family bubble and you are also permitted to have up to a max. of ten people on-board from a maximum of two households with social distancing requirements. If you reside further than 25km from SYC – unfortunately you are not permitted to go boating but please know we will continue to advocate on your behalf and we hope your time will come very soon. For the detail – click here to view
  • SYC Marina, Hardstand & Off the Beach: For authorised Members, if you reside within a 25km radius you can visit SYC and check on your vessel for emergency maintenance or essential safety purposes and or whilst you are getting in your recreational boating or your daily exercise and or buying food from the Ken King Centre. For those boat owning members who reside further than the 25km radius, you too can now travel outside of your 25km radius to check on your vessel at SYC for emergency maintenance or essential safety purposes. Strict conditions and paperwork apply for you and it is set out on our COVID-19 web page – click here to view
  • On-Water Racing & Events:  Whilst currently not permitted, the next easing of restrictions stage (currently set to come into effect on 2 November) permits contact sport for U18s and non-contact sport for adults – which we understand will permit racing and running of on-water events. Should that eventuate, then it is our intent to return to the water immediately thereafter – click here to read our plans
  • Boat Yard Operations: The boat yard re-opened 3 weeks ago on the back of eased restrictions in late September. Whilst back open, only tenants and contractors are currently permitted to perform the works. Read up on the detail by clicking here.
  • Food & Beverage: The Clubhouse remains closed for now but the next easing of restrictions (2 November) looks set to permit indoor catering for up to 20 persons and outdoors for up to 50 pax. We will make sense of the related rules in the coming days and be back in touch. In the interim the Ken King Centre is open daily from 10:00am – 5:00pm for take away food, coffee and alcohol. If you live within 25km you can pop in as part of your daily shopping trip and grab some of Kol’s frozen food and or the fresh meats on offer. For menus and more info click here
  • Ken King Centre BBQs – and as we hope to see more of you around moving forward, plus with the Grand Final Eve public holiday, please note our chefs will be on the KKC BBQ this week at the following times doing take away;
