This was the third abandoned race this series. It followed a strong wind warning forecasting 25 to 30 knots northerlies with possible 45 knot squalls. The strong wind warning was just one of a string for Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Observations on Sunday morning at Fawkner Beacon indicated a northerly breeze averaging about 22 knots with gusts over 30 knots – the highest of the series.
