Flashes of lightening with claps of thunder punctuated race 4. The rain fell in short but heavy bursts reducing visibility and producing some stronger wind gusts. The breeze averaged about 8 knots for the morning at Fawkner Beacon but varied in both strength and direction throughout the race. The breeze was predominantly from the southeast rather than north to north westerly as forecast.
A good mixed fleet of 19 yachts contested the race which was won by KAOS (Dawn Cleaver) by a margin of 3 minutes 19 seconds. This was her second win in three races. ANTARES (G Stewart D Pearce) crossed the line in 2nd place for the second time in the series whilst VIVE LA VIE (Mark Sutherland) recorded her first podium finish of the summer. Read more…
