Sunday Sailors Summer Series 2017-18 Race 10 – More Breeze Please, We’re Sailors

The largest fleet of the series (26 yachts) lined up to contest this race but only 15 made it across the finish line within the time limit. The last yacht to finish line, HI JAC (J Gledhill), did so with a mere 3 seconds to spare. That was after the start had been delayed for 20 minutes and course 8 shortened to finish at number 7. There just wasn’t enough breeze to carry all the fleet around the course. As the morning progressed the breeze shifted from the east to finish in the SSW increasing slowly from about 4 to 10 knots – an average of about 6 knots. A win for COPYRIGHT (Stuart Morrison Jack) by 15 seconds puts her back on top of the aggregate after an absence of two races. It was a second place for 38 DEGREES SOUTH (J. Chatham & K. Mitchell) in only her second outing of the Sunday series. THE SECRETARY (George Shaw) recorded a 3rd place – her first podium finish of the series. Read more…
