Sandringham Yacht Club to host the Epigen J/24 World Championship Melbourne 2026

Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) is excited to announce that it will host the prestigious Epigen J/24 World Championship from 4 to 11 November 2026. This event promises to bring together the world’s best J/24 sailors for a week of intense competition and camaraderie on the stunning waters of Port Phillip.

The Organising Committee, chaired by Megan Aulich, is proud to confirm Epigen as the Title Sponsor for the event. Epigen, a brand under Peerless Industrial Systems, is renowned for its innovative Industrial Epoxy Resin Systems. Peerless Industrial Systems, an Australian company, has a rich history of supporting high-performance industries, including boatbuilding.

The Epigen J/24 World Championship will kick off with a two-day Pre-Worlds Regatta on 31 October and 1 November, followed by registration, measurement, and an invitation race on 6 November. The main championship races will take place from 7 to 11 November, right in front of the Club, offering spectators a fantastic view of the action.

SYC is the home of J/24s in Victoria, boasting a permanent fleet of 20 J/24s and a vibrant community of passionate sailors. The Club’s large hardstand area with two dedicated cranes and facilities immediately adjacent to the race area ensure that competitors and their families can enjoy the races from the comfort of the Members’ Bar.

The event is expected to attract around 40 boats and approximately 200 sailors, plus family and friends. Competitors will include many past world champions, making this a highly anticipated and competitive event.

Megan Aulich shared her excitement about the upcoming event, “with our title sponsor Epigen on board, the regatta is well on the way to being a huge success for local and overseas competitors alike. We are already receiving interest from international sailors eager to compete in Melbourne.”

SYC Vice Commodore, Cathryn Furey, added “we are thrilled to be hosting the Epigen J/24 World Championships at Sandringham Yacht Club. We look forward to welcoming competitors and friends to the waters of Port Philip for this event, and know they will make the most of our hospitality, outstanding clubhouse and waterfront facilities.”

The Epigen J/24 World Championship is set to be a highlight on the international sailing calendar, combining hard racing with a vibrant Aussie social scene.
