SAILING Champions League – Asia Pacific Qualifier – SYC Expression of Interest

SYC are seeking expressions of interest from club members wanting to represent our club at the SAILING Champions League – Asia Pacific Qualifier, which is being held at Royal Geelong Yacht Club as a part of this year’s Festival of Sails on the 26th and 27th January.  

This expression of interest is open to all SYC members and we are seeking submissions from individuals and/or teams. 

The SAILING Champions League – Asia Pacific Qualifier will compete on the new NSL fleet of six RS21’s.  There will be up to 24 teams competing in this event. 

This event is open to teams in the following three categories:

  1. youth (under 22 years old), with up to 5 team members, with a minimum of 1 female
  2. female, up to 5 female team members
  3. open, no age restriction, with up to 4 team members, with a minimum of 1 female. 

This event is the first 2020 Qualifier (Southern) and is open to all clubs from Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia, with the top six teams then qualifying directly to the SCL – Asia Pacific Final to be held at RSYS on 2/4/5th April.  

The 6 teams from this Qualifier who make it to this final will be joined by;

  • 6 from Qualifier 2 (Northern)
  • 6 from the Pacfifc (NZL / Islands) and 
  • 6 from Asia.  

The top teams from this Sydney Final qualify to take on the best clubs in the world at the SAILING Champions League – Final next year at Porto Cervo (1-4 October).  To Read more on the NSL Click here and for the Notice of Race
