Recreational Boating 23 January News and Updates

Welcome to the New Year Recreational Boaters. The club is very busy with all things Laser. I recently motored (very slowly) up the eastern side of the marina with 200 Lasers going out other way.

We have four events coming up in the next few weeks

NAV RALLY- February 2nd.  On Sunday February 2nd we have the SYC Cup (and CUB Trophy). Bookings are open and we already have some enthusiastic entrants but please get your water wheels on and enter.  We are particularly keen to win the CUB Trophy back off Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club.

SUMMER RAFT UP – Rescheduled to Saturday February 8 – Following the cancellation of the January date due to the weather, we have rescheduled for Saturday February 8th. These have been popular events in the past and bookings are open for this event. We will also have a mini quiz where wit rather than knowledge will win!!! Come and share someone else’s lunch on the water.

GUEST SPEAKER- Rod Keller- Australian Volunteer Coastguard – Wednesday February 12- Port Philip Room 7.30 PM. Rod has been with the Coastguard in NSW and then, recently, in Victoria. He has “messed about “in small boats for 30 years and will be discussing their equipment and rescues. Come along beforehand for dinner in the bar. Wednesday is curry night!!

CRUISE IN COMPANY – Port Philip – March 7-9 (Short Version) or March 7-12 (Long version)
Bookings will open soon for our March Labour Day Week cruises, so mark the date in your diary now! Simon Hemingway will be available to answer any questions or help with preparation for briefing. This will occur on Wednesday February 19th at 8pm in the Port Phillip Room.

SYC Cup NavRally ~ Sunday 2 February

In February the SYC Cup NavRally is where Sandringham Yacht Club invites all Clubs to compete for the coveted SYC Cup.  Included in this event is the battle between SYC and RVMYC for the CUB Cup.
