Although this was the last race in the summer series it was one of the more competitive with 27 of the 30 strong fleet finishing within 10 minutes of the winner. The race was around the 8 leg, 10.1 nautical mile course 28, the same as race 24, except the wind was not quite as strong and was a north westerly rather than a south easterly. An average wind speed of around 21 knots for the afternoon was recorded at Fawkner Beacon. This was enough to power the fleet around the course in an average time of 1:43:18 – the 4th fastest time of the series. Read more…
