Persons Overboard in the Marina

In the event that a person falls overboard in the marina (POB), if you are the POB, or if you are rendering assistance, the following may assist;

  • We have 9 life rings situated throughout the marina that can be tossed to the MOB. 3 life rings are situated on the fuel jetty and 6 are mounted on the outside of our electrical sub boards – one is situated at the end of each Marina Arm (Row) A, B, C, D, E and F (row C is located near the submarine)
  • On our 6 electrical sub boards we have emergency rope ladders mounted. They are sign written (as per the image) and you can grab them and run to assist the person in need. The ladders need to pulled out of the bag, strapped around the nearest cleat and tossed in the water. To view the video on how to deploy the ladders Click Here

  • Swim Ladders – many of the vessels in the marina, particularly power boats, have swim ladders at the stern. Not all of them are readily accessible but many are. These may be your closest and best option. If you view the images below you can see the different types that can be used. When next walking on the marina, we encourage you to make yourself familiar with the boats in your area for this purpose. See various examples below

  • There are various fixed ladders also situated at the fuel jetty and hardstand. These may be an option for a POB in that vicinity.

We also encourage all members to ensure their guests use common sense when moving about the marina. Stating the obvious, it is surrounded by water, there are many fittings and lines and various items on pontoons – this is the nature of marinas and so it’s very important to be careful when moving about.
