OTB News and Update

Friday, 28th June 2019

Dear OTB sailors and friends,

We are already a third of the way through Winter and thankfully we have already past the shortest day of the year, so the outlook is brighter!

Although everything OTB slows down this time of year, SYC certainly hasn’t and there have been a number of major events happening around our great club in recent weeks.

Our 30+ year and 20+ year member lunches were very well attended by our longstanding members and it was great to catch up with so many people that have been a big part of SYC for many years.

The Australian Sailing Victorian Awards presentation evening was held in our Port Phillip room last Friday night and it was great to hear that so many of our members had been recognised for their achievements over the past year. Special mention must go to SYC members Heather Macfarlane for collecting Female Sailor of the Year and also Matty Goss for winning Junior Sailor of the Year, very worthy winners!

There is still plenty of sailing happening close to home, with many of our cadet sailors heading to RGYC this weekend to train under Australian Coach Tony Bull.

Our friends at Hampton Sailing Club are also holding their Winter Series, which kicks of this Sunday and all SYC OTB sailors are welcome.

Briefing will be at 12pm and racing starts at 1pm and they do ask that you register your intention to race on their website.

Best Regards,
