OTB 25 August News & Updates!

Friday, 30th August 2019

Dear OTB sailors and friends,

Although it may feel as if we are still in the depths of winter in Melbourne right now, it is nice to know that spring is right around the corner. So this means it is time to start thinking about sailing again!

Special mention to our young Optimist sailors who have just completed an Optimist regatta in Qingdao, where I have heard Dmitry Sorokin, Lottie Griffith and Liam Stevens were very competitive and no doubt learnt an enormous amount from the experience. I look forward to hearing all about their regatta and what it is like to visit China.

The OTB program will be fairly busy this season, which is just how we like it, so it is worth downloading a copy of the OTB Sailing Calendar from the SYC website when you get a chance by clicking here. The first major regatta is Spring Sail at RGYC in September, but there is plenty of Optimist training being organised at SYC to help get prepared. The Cadets kicked off training at the Winter Woolies event this weekend at RYCV, plus I am sure we will start to see some more regular OTB activity in coming weekends as the weather continues to improve.

Our Boating Office staff have been busy helping get the OTB season prepared for us this week, so you can now go online and apply for Dinghy Storage, which is up for renewal from 1 September. If you are not participating in at least 50% of club racing then you need not apply, as this is a pre-requisite for a successful storage application. Apply here

Best Regards,

David Suda
OTB Club Captain
