Recreational Boating is committed to education and safety as part of their charter. Every second month SYC hold guest speaker evenings on a variety of interesting and informative topics – navigation, debriefs of cruises in company, fishing hints and tips, radio techniques, marine diesel maintenance, and many other topics including combined speaker nights with Sail through the winter months.
Our October Guest Speaker will be on October 18 2017 at 19:30.
At the tender age of 14 ‘Dugga’ Beazley joined the family fishing business, and for the next 60 years, he was a professional long liner and netter in Port Phillip, based in Port Melbourne. Recently he has been forced into retirement by compulsory buy back of his fishing licence, and the legendary shop in Rouse St. is no longer open. His experience and expertise, with Snapper is second to none! Come and hear Dugga tell of his life on the bay, the exploits, the mishaps, the run ins, and the adventures, too many to list. Much of his working life has been aboard traditional timber boats, and for recreation, he has maintained and sailed these vessels with skill and enthusiasm. He has much to share and this will be an evening to remember!
