Recreational Boating is committed to education and safety as part of its charter. Every second month SYC Recreational Boating hold guest speaker evenings on a variety of interesting and informative topics – navigation, debriefs of cruises in company, fishing hints and tips, radio techniques, marine diesel maintenance, and many other topics including combined speaker nights with Sail through the winter months.
Our next Guest Speaker evening is Wednesday 11 April 2018 at 7:30pm in the Port Phillip Room.
Come along and listen to SYC Member Peter Turrell speak to you about his recent experience travelling down the west coast of Tasmania to where the Gordon River and Franklin River meet.
When SYC Member Rob Ungar asked like minded members, who would like to do the trip, it excited many. With three boats opting to do the trip, they set off in February 2018.
Planned destinations included Queenscliff to Apollo Bay, then onto Grassy on King Island, south to Strahan in Macquarie Harbor then finally going up the Gordon River to meet the Franklin River.
As you will come to see the 670 nautical mile journey took a slightly different route but we achieved the final destination
