Recreational Boating is committed to education and safety as part of its charter. Every second month SYC Recreational Boating hold guest speaker evenings on a variety of interesting and informative topics – navigation, debriefs of cruises in company, fishing hints and tips, radio techniques, marine diesel maintenance, and many other topics including combined speaker nights with Sail through the winter months.
Our April Guest Speaker evening is Wednesday 15 April 2020 at 7:30pm in the Port Phillip Room.
Our April speakers are Doug and Sandra Williams, long standing SYC members. They have cruised the South West Pacific extensively.
Since 2010 they have spent the cruising season in the Pacific Islands, returning to New Zealand for the cyclone season each year.
A large part of their time in the islands has been spent helping local communities with donated goods and then working with Lions International on health related projects.
Their vessel, Freycinet II is currently based in Hobart.
This summary is only a small snippet of their 35,000 nautical miles of travel. They have a myriad of experiences and adventures which they have generously agreed to share with us.
We would be pleased to see you on Wednesday April 15th at 7.30 PM.
Better still come and have a curry in the Members Bar beforehand.
