Labour Day Weekend Cruise in Company

Labour Day Cruise

Date: 12 to 14 March 20222

  • Inside the Bay, or

  • Out to Bass Strait

About this Cruise:

A fun long weekend cruise either inside the bay, or if you can make the time, join us Cruising in Company on a longer journey out the Port Phillip Heads and explore the spectacular Victorian coastline by boat.

All sailors will depart SYC for Queenscliff on the Saturday and the “Inside the Bay” group will travel to Martha Cove for Sunday night before returning to SYC on Monday. The “Outside the Bay” group will depart QCYC Sunday in time for slack water to leave the Port Phillip Heads and depending on wind and weather conditions will then either travel East or West out the Heads.

If Easterly, the cruise will include stops at Western Port, Refuge Cove and Deal Island before returning to QCYC. If Westerly, the group will travel to Apollo Bay and King Island before returning to QCYC. We plan on being outside the bay for 5-7 nights with another 2 nights at QCYC, once on the way out and again when re-entering the bay, before returning to SYC.

It’s a great weekend to get out on your boat and enjoy the comradery of like- minded sailors. It’s also a great way to see Bass Strait for the first time, or to enjoy it again – all in the company of other Cruisers. For those cruisers interested in the “Outside the Bay” option, please express your interest early as the Rec Boating Committee will be organising safety workshops and boat audits well in advance of the sailing dates to ensure your boat and crew are ready to sail safely through the Port Phillip heads and to cruise in the Bass Strait.
