International Cadet
The International Cadet is an internationally recognised junior double handed boat. The International Cadet can be sailed with varying abilities from beginner level to World Championship level. The Cadet is a good example of how children can be taught by their peers – a uniqueness of the class is that a younger sailor is generally the crew and an older more experienced sailor is the skipper.
Program Overview:
Our International Cadet sailing sessions are designed to fit around busy family schedules and provide flexible, high-quality coaching and racing opportunities:
- After-school/Saturday afternoon training sessions during the week (Term 4 and Term 1)
- Sunday morning coaching (all year)
- Sunday afternoon OTB club racing (every Sunday in summer and every second Sunday in winter – more details found here)
We also offer school holiday sailing programs, perfect for accelerating development and building confidence on the water.
After sailors have learnt the skills needed through Tackers Squad (or Green Fleet at another club) and purchased their own boat (there are limited Club boats available for rent) they are welcome to join the OTB Sailing Program. They will need to be youth members of SYC to participate.
If you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact the SYC Boating Office on 9599 0902.
