The 2017 Sandy Point Half Marathon event, to be held on Sunday 27 August at Green Point Reserve, Brighton from 6:00am. Participants in the event will pass nearby your residence/business. We hope this does not cause any inconvenience.
The event is a 21.1km Half Marathon, 10km run, 5km run/walk and a 3km kids run, conducted on Beach Road from Dendy Street, Brighton to Charman Road, Beaumaris. We expect approximately 3,000 participants and 1,000 spectators to attend the event.
The assembly area for the event is Green Point Reserve, Brighton. Please note that access will be available to the car park throughout the weekend.
Road closures will be in place as follows:
- Full closure of Beach Road between Charman Road, Beaumaris and Balcombe Road, Black Rock from 6:00am – 10:00am.
- Full closure of Beach Road between Balcombe Road, Black Rock and Bay Road, Sandringham from 6:00am – 10:30am.
- Full closure of Beach Road between Bay Road, Sandringham and Dendy Street, Brighton from 6:00am – 11:00am.
Businesses/residents who need to leave via Beach Road during the road closure times are to keep in the 40km/h slip lane closest to residents, and head south to turn left at the next street (those coming from a dead end street, please take direction from the street marshal).
When returning to access your business/residence, enter north of your property. If you are aware of any services, contractors or others that need to access your property, please pass this information onto them.
We have liaised with Bayside Council, Victoria Police Special Events and VicRoads to ensure the smooth running of the event.
